I hope everyone took my guided tour of West Hardwick and got to stand next to the current dump and envision it 3 times higher.
Now I will take you on your next adventure:
Fact # 1
As Casella has stated - "ALL DUMPS LEAK!"

The "current" — and if they have their way — future dump is on an aquifer that provides water to all homes downstream, Hardwick Pond, and the Town of Ware's entire water supply.
So, lets do a little science project. If you are a parent, this might be a great thing to do with you children.
Take your cup of coffee - put it into one of those clear glass mugs. Now put a dollop of cream or milk in your coffee. DO NOT STIR! Like magic, while you watch, the entire cup of coffee will eventually all become one color, the color of your usual coffee if your stirred.
Or, for the kiddies out there - take a glass pitcher of water from your tap. Pour in an envelope of Kool aide concentrate. (I would suggest grape, but that's another story). Watch how long it takes for the entire pitcher to be grape.
What does this little science project prove? It proves that if you take something liquid, and pour in another liquid, the two liquids will mix together.
Now, if you want to gross out those kids, take that pitcher of water and pour in some sludge you made using the excrement of the cow next door. Yep, the entire pitcher is now contaminated.
And so it goes with an aquifer filled with water and toxic leachate containing who knows what nasty contaminant. And it's happening right now today, because we already have a dump where that liner degrades every day, every year, as well as an UNLINED dump where stuff is just flowing out unchecked. And Casella wants this to happen faster and with MORE toxic soup.
